Lower Intermediate Drama Projects
Projects do not have to be done in order and not all projects have to be done. They are simply OPTIONS to choose from. Students can pick and choose what they would like to do from the Music, Art, and Drama activities:)
Students in Ms. Campbell and Mr. Hummel's Classes: Please remember to access your assignments via Google Classroom and respond to assignments from there.
*NEW* - I have added in an option to use something called FLIPGRID to record and/or submit videos. You can find the link and information on your Google Classroom page, under Fine Arts.
Mrs. Ernst's class - please Contact me to obtain the Access Code for Flipgrid.

At Home with Stage One - Western Canada Theatre - Drama Games
Western Canada Theatre is releasing some great Drama games that can be played at home with your family!
I will put up a new one each week, as they become available.
This is a Participation Only activity - no need to send in Video or a Picture unless you wish to.
But please DO take time to TELL ME HOW IT WENT! What was the most fun (funny?) part of your story that you came up with? Was it easy? Challenging? Do you think it would make a good REAL play if you wrote a script on it?
Send me your experience through my Submission Page, or through your Google Classroom assignment page.

Earth Day PlayFor this project, your challenge is to create a short play in honour of Earth Day.
TOPIC: It could be an instructional video to people on how to recycle, a play about taking care of the Earth, A documentary about all the wonderful things we can find on Earth, a play with Nature as the good guy and Pollution as the bad guy, or an advertisement about a new device that helps clean up the Earth, or even just a walk through the Nature around you (you could pretend you're a tour guide). Anything! MEDIUM: You can videotape you and your family in the acting roles, you could use toys or stuffies as the "actors", or do stop motion with toys or even drawings! You could even just write a script for a play if you don't feel like acting it out. See your Google Classroom for further instructions. You can submit your work through there or through Flipgrid. |
Phonetic Punctuation - Victor Borge - an exercise in voice projection
Victor Borge was a Danish Comedian, Conductor, and Pianist who achieved great popularity in radio and television in Europe and North America. His blend of music and comedy earned him the Nickname of "The Clown Prince of Denmark".
One of Borge's famous routines was "Phonetic Punctuation," in which he read a passage from a book and added exaggerated sound effects to stand for all of the punctuation marks, such as periods, commas, and exclamation marks. Watch the video to the Right to learn about and hear his "Phonetic Punctuation" in action! |
|
Project - What to do:
For this project, simply read a passage of writing from a book of your choice using Borge's Phonetic Puncuation. To see how he added in actions to his Punctuation (and a little music!), watch the video to the Right here. When you have your routine down pat, record it and send it through your Google Classroom assignment (or through Flipgrid! See Google Classroom for information on this), or to Mrs. Phillips at: [email protected] |

Free Choice Theatre Play
Create your own short play in any format or style that you wish (so long as it remains school appropriate).
It could be a one man show with you playing all the parts, it could be a documentary (of the mysteries of your house or backyard?), it could be a puppet show with random toys/items from your house, it could be a stop motion video, it could be a scripted play with you and your siblings/family, it could be an advertisement for something you invented, it could be a how-to video (on how to skateboard?)......
The list of possibilities goes on and on. The only limit is your imagination!
What recording device you use is up to you.
When you finish, send it to me! I look forward to seeing you theatrical creations!
Students From Ms. Campbell and Mr. Hummel's classes - please submit your work through Google Classroom.
