Music in our Community!
Now that you know all about the different Family groups of Instruments, let's look and see where we might find them at play! How many Instruments can you recognize and identify?
The biggest group of instruments playing together usually comes in the form of a Symphony Orchestra. Did you know that Kamloops has their own Orchestra? It's called the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra and is made up of players from all over the city as well as the Province! Our Orchestra has been around since 1976! Check out the short video here for a quick glimpse into what the orchestra looks and sounds like. ---> |

Kamloops Community Band
This is Mrs. Phillips' band! Can you spot me in this video? I'm right up front, playing the Oboe, just to the right of the Director:) The Kamloops Community Band has been around since 2001 and Mrs. Phillips has been a member that whole time! In this video, enjoy Nautical Rhapsody, by the late Kamloops composer Oliver Rinaldi, played by the Kamloops Community Band:) |
Kamloops Rube Band
The Kamloops Rube band was started up in 1949 by a group of highschool band students putting together a group for a fundraiser. It's continued til this day, travelling all over the World as ambassadors of Kamloops. They sure do love to have fun, with their crazy "un-uniforms" and lively music. Enjoy this little video they made while in Newfoundland on their 70th year tour last year:) |
