On Tuesday, October 13, Bert Edwards Science and Technology School made history, participating in the largest ever recording of O Canada! The project, part of an initiative by Heritage Canada to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our national flag, sent a recording group across Canada to record the voices of students in schools across our nation. Only two schools in Kamloops were chosen, ourselves and St. Ann's. The students have spent the last few weeks rehearsing the words to O Canada, creating artwork, and learning about the history of our Maple Leaf flag. Recording was done Tuesday morning in groups of 2-3 classes at a time, where students also learned more about the history of our flag. It was a great experience that the students really seemed to enjoy! I'm so glad we were able to take part! Keep an eye out at www.flagofcanada.ca in the new year (or possibly as early as December) for the final recording to be posted. |
